👤 Vache Gabrielyan has appeared on the Groong podcast — see their guest profile and interviews →
Vache Gabrielyan is an economist and the dean of the Manoogian-Simone College of Business and Economics at the American University of Armenia. From 2008 he held senior economic posts under the pre-2018 governments, including Vice-Governor of the Central Bank of Armenia, Minister of Finance, and Deputy Prime Minister. His guest page carries his full biography and episode list.
On Groong, Gabrielyan analyzes the Armenian economy from the vantage of someone who once managed it. In his March 2022 appearance, The State of Armenia’s Economy, he examined the post-war recovery, the country’s dependence on remittances and trade with Russia, the Armenian dram, and Armenia’s place in the Eurasian Economic Union.
Few Groong guests have run Armenian fiscal and monetary policy from the inside, which gives Gabrielyan’s analysis a structural bent: the economy’s exposure to Russia through the Eurasian Economic Union and labor migration, and the distance between headline growth and durable productive capacity.
