Samvel Babayan

Samvel Babayan is an Armenian military commander who played a prominent role in the first Nagorno Karabakh war of the 1990s, serving as commander of the Artsakh Defense Army during a critical period of the conflict. He was later convicted of an assassination attempt against Artsakh President Arkady Ghukasyan in 2000 and served a prison sentence before re-entering public life.
