Last updated: May 29, 2026

Pan-Turkism is a political and cultural movement that seeks the unity of Turkic peoples across a contiguous geographic corridor from Turkey through Azerbaijan, Central Asia, and into western China. In the context of the South Caucasus, it underpins the “two states, one nation” framework that defines Turkey-Azerbaijan relations and shaped their joint military cooperation in the 2020 Nagorno Karabakh war.

Groong episodes on Pan-Turkism examine the ideological roots of Turkey-Azerbaijan collaboration, the military and diplomatic consequences for Armenia of a unified Turkic front on its western and eastern borders, and the long-term strategic vision that critics argue motivates both Ankara and Baku’s positions on Armenia, the Zangezur Corridor, and the future of the South Caucasus.
