The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is a Russia-led economic integration bloc that includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. Armenia joined the EAEU in 2015.
Armenia’s EAEU membership has become one of the central tensions in its evolving foreign policy. As the Pashinyan government deepened ties with the EU and signed a Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, the compatibility of EAEU membership with closer European integration became an increasingly live political question.
