The European Union Monitoring Mission in Armenia (EUMA) is a civilian observer mission deployed by the European Union along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, established in 2023 following the escalation of border tensions and the failure of other international monitoring mechanisms. It represents the EU’s most direct on-the-ground presence in the South Caucasus conflict zone.

Groong episodes covering the EU Monitoring Mission examine its mandate, its capacity to deter or document Azerbaijani border incursions, the diplomatic significance of a European presence on Armenian soil as Armenia reoriented its foreign policy toward the EU, and the contrast between EUMA’s deployment and the withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from Nagorno Karabakh.
