The East-West Corridor refers to a transport route running roughly east to west through the South Caucasus, connecting the Black Sea ports of Georgia to Azerbaijan and onward to Central Asia. Various iterations of this concept have been proposed under different names, including the Middle Corridor and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
For Armenia, the East-West Corridor is a double-edged concept: it offers potential economic connectivity benefits, but many of the proposed routes bypass Armenia entirely in favor of a corridor running through Azerbaijan and Georgia. Groong episodes covering the East-West Corridor examine how Armenia can — or cannot — benefit from regional connectivity initiatives, and how these routes relate to the North-South Corridor, the Zangezur Corridor demand, and TRIPP.
