Arman Tatoyan served as Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) of Armenia from 2018 to 2022. During and after the 2020 Nagorno Karabakh war, he became one of the most prominent voices documenting Azerbaijani human rights violations, publishing reports on the treatment of Armenian prisoners of war and civilians that attracted significant international attention.

After leaving his official role, Tatoyan founded the Wings of Unity party and entered electoral politics ahead of the June 2026 parliamentary elections.
